Archive for the 'Parenthood' CategoryPosts relating to parenthood I went for a drive into the mountains the other day, with Anthony, Nils Ferry, and Nils' son Greg. It was the first time I'd seen Nils since he was my tour guide around Kyoto's Miyagawa-cho area earlier in the summer, about the same time that Anthony last saw three-year-old Greg (when they checked out some big mushrooms together). Our goal was a photo hunt of some terraced rice paddies that I'd seen the previous day, but the kids having fallen asleep during the drive, we first had to wake them up... (Nils has an almost identical photo on his [...] View full post » I was a zombie for a couple of days after returning to Kyoto, despite being able to sleep soon after landing. I got a good night's sleep and awoke at 6:30 feeling refreshed. I took the haruka express train home, but soon started feeling tired again. Despite being tired, I didn't sleep much that next evening, waking up at 2:30am and was a zombie for all of yesterday. I was so tired it hurt. Then another, and another, and I finally just gave it back to him. (And yes, he's wearing the same clothes as yesterday -- my bad. At least they're on properly.) (Note to photographers: the sub-command dial on the front of the Nikon D200 becomes a challenge to turn with buttery fingers.) If it wasn't clear enough the other day when he explained to me in detail how the space shuttle launched (see the middle of this post), it was clear today when we shot off a model rocket. I was into model rocketry when I was a kid, so I thought to share that experience a bit with him. Yesterday we bought an Estes starter kit and built one of the rockets, and today we went to a park to shoot it off. (I used to [...] View full post » |
