Anthony’s Birthday Helicopter And Some Creativity

I've been so busy of late that I haven't posted much from Anthony's birthday when he turned six years old, but since my primary intent for this blog is to give me something to remember when I finish going senile, I'll go ahead now and put some more memories from his birthday.

How I Spent My Saturday in Kyoto

Anthony had a short day at school today, so while he was there, I spent half an hour at the Heian Shrine again for all the 7-, 5-, and 3-year-old kids dressed up in fancy clothes for the "7-5-3 festival", as I mentioned earlier in the week (and followed up on yesterday).

Of course, there is the occasional pretty leaf...

After school, Anthony and I visited Zak so Anthony and his son Gen could play, and Zak and I could make boring small talk about cameras for a few hours.

Anthony’s Interesting Style Choice

It was pretty chilly this morning, so while Fumie made Anthony's bento, I laid out some warm clothes for him. This included a sort of small shirt and a big fluffy sweater. I'd intended that he wear the big sweater over the small shirt, but he had other ideas.

(I snapped the shot above just after Anthony had brushed his teeth; the "stain" on his shirt is just water.)

Mommy Teaches Anthony to Jump from a Swing

Yesterday's drive in the mountains left us wanting more, so today we took off in the opposite direction for another drive. It was a very hazy, overcast day, but relatively warm and much less crowded where we ended up.

We ended up in the same little rice-farming village in Shiga prefecture with tiered rice paddies that we visited last year (where Anthony and a friend playing among the rice paddies and in another post, I documented the rice harvest). I had remembered a small park where we'd stopped last time, and so stopped again this time.
