Intimately related to the image above
I don't normally have two photos on one of my “What am I?” quizzes, but then, I don't normally have two quizzes going at once. This one is even more obvious than the currently-outstanding “An Oh-So-Obvious “What am I?” Quiz” from a few days ago, at least if, like that one, you look at the image metadata, but these two snaps are perhaps good for a few moments of perplexity.
I also don't normally put industrial grunge for a desktop background, but I'm giving it a try with that top image, for a different vibe.
Anyway, what are these images of? As always, I'll keep comments hidden until I reveal the answer in a subsequent post.

An espresso machine and the handle of a coffee cup?
Can’t guess exactly what it is, but looking at the design, I’d say what it does deals with high air or liquid pressure.
Hmmm, looks like the first one are the innards of a coffee machine, and the second a cup o’coffee with lots of milk…

I’m guessing something similar to an industrial espresso machine but with a much more industrial look to it than those copper ones in Italy and France.
Thanks for the industrial grunge – one of my favorite types of photo. The first image looks like a vessel with either a valve or sample port for checking a liquid being processed. The second photo looks like beer, so is this a brewery?
My guess is that the first image is for some sort of brewing of alcohol, likely wine, and the latter is a wine glass. If I’m wrong, I still like both the pictures, and i enjoy the macro with a tiny depth of field the glass sublimates into a soft goo. It reminds me of this photo I took in my grandfather’s basement.
Can you guess what it is?
Well, it looks like a needle and thick thread… needlepoint? —Jeffrey
