Kajuji Temple (勧修寺)
Kyoto, Japan
Today's post is a continuation of yesterday's look at the Kajuji Temple during its bleak winter phase. Even then it was quite nice.
There's a fine line on the spectrum of disrepair between “quaint rustic” and “ugly dilapidated neglect”, and I found this temple to be well situated on the pleasant side of the line, much like the fences at the Gioji Temple.
Just inside the gate was a weird barren bush of the likes I'd never seen....

I liked these three the best:
JF7_103905.jpg – interesting combination of rust & wood
JF7_103915.jpg – something that I’ve never seen before
JF7_104040.jpg – an image that invites one into the space
In addition, I enjoyed reading about “winged spindle”, which I have not seen here in California. Interesting to learn that it is banned in some of the New England states as an invasive species.

The “Funky Leaves” above belong to a plant aptly called Fatsia japonica because it is native to southern Japan. But they grow happily here in Tuscany also.
I always enjoy reading your blog and looking at the photos. So much to learn!
Beautiful shots, some of these qualify as “inspirational” posters – those that you see in the office to keep the employees focused and positive! Nice! Visiting from Texas!
