moss garden at the Gioji Temple (祇王寺)
Kyoto, Japan
Some more shots from the outing that started with “Tag Along With Me on a Photo Shoot at Kyoto’s Gioji Temple” and covered in a bunch of posts until the most recent, “Taking It Easy With Some Flowers”.
Here's a shot of me, shooting the same mushrooms seen in “Nicolas's White Little Mushrooms”...

The other side of the fence roof had some nails sticking out such that you could tell where the board used to be before it rotted away...
Let's try that again, but with a thinner depth of field...

Now you can really see them.
The rest of the post is just a bunch of desktop-backgrounds, starting with a wider view of the same fence-roof thing...

Lovely pictures, Zones is my favourite. Is the 180mm f/2.8 new in your collection? How do you rate the lens in terms of sharpness, focus, usability (i.e. what does it offer over the 70-200)? Kind regards, Gianluca
Not in my collection…. I had borrowed Nicolas’s lens, a fact I had forgotten (even while processing photos for the post) until you brought it up. I used it for just a few snaps, so didn’t really form much of an opinion, but the results speak pretty highly of it. —Jeffrey
Thanks for adding the new resolution, Jeffrey! Much appreciated.
Nice wallpapers again:), I specially like the bamboo shots. I wondering… many of the structures, buildings, bridges are made of wood , probably they need to repair frequently because of the humid climate. Are they fixing them yearly?
One would think a certain amount of maintenance is needed, but some wooden structures are very old (many hundreds of years), so I suppose “it depends”. —Jeffrey
While searching moss images for the green topic presentation,
I found your photos and totally amazed by your beautiful pictures.
I love these pictures!
They express the softness of moss, the stiffness of bamboos and zen-giving pathways!
Thank you for these amazing pictures
