What am I?

Well, I feel a bit iffy about this for a “What am I?” quiz, but let's try it and see how it goes....

Is that the fastener on a shichi-go-san carp pole ? For 3, 5, 7 day? You know, for the kids…

It’s OBVIOUSLY a Doohickey. Or if you need to be more specific; a Doohickey-Thingey.

I found the answer using your EXIF tool. But that feels like cheating! I was going to guess some kind of adjustable stair – the link in the middle looks like it can lock the stair into different positions.

Maybe I’m dense but other than the map, I don’t see how EXIF data helps answer these… granted, the map can show what part of Japan we are in, but…. eh… doesn’t seem to help that much. Maybe I just don’t know much about Japan’s regions.

Hi Jeffrey, I’m new to your site – nice shots!
I think it’s part of a paddle or blade on the rice harvester.

San.
