It's wonderful to be back. I awoke this morning as I did yesterday morning: awake, refreshed, ready for the day. Unfortunately, this morning, like yesterday morning, it was still morning, as in 3 am. Sigh, I hate jet lag.

One trick most of my friends (and I try to) follow is going to bed as late as possible. 11pm sounds like a doable number. Cafeine helps. It should kill your jetlag much faster.
I calculated that I have enough actual flight miles with United Airlines to account for 79 trans-pacific flights (not counting all the free flights, and flights on other airlines). Over that many flights, I think I’ve tried everything about jet lag. I’ve tried large amounts of drugs (alcohol, sugar, Ambian, caffeine, melitonin). I’ve tried staying away from all that stuff. I’ve tried sleeping extra before/after the flight, sleep deprivation before/after the flight. I’ve tried “pre-setting my clock”. I’ve tried just about every combination and permutation of the above. When it comes down
to it, I just suck WRT jet lag.
Normally, it’s not so bad when I’m going to Japan – after a few days, I’m usually fine. It really hits me, though, when I go Stateside: it usually takes me three to four weeks to fully recover.
