What Am I?

The quiz in my previous post doesn't count as one of my “What am I?” quizzes, so I thought I'd post one of those as well.

I had originally planned to spend the day chipping away at the mountain of email I have awaiting my attention, but instead I went out and took 1,000 photos, including this one. What is it?

Looking at the photo metadata will likely give it away, so if you do, don't answer (or don't admit that you looked :-).

I was going to guess something completely different… but then I had to look. Still didn’t get it for several minutes even though I grew up in an area where they were used…

At first I thought it was a macro of a razor but having a closer look makes me think it must be something different.

I live in Canada, this quiz pic remainds me of the things
in the winter when we strap on a pair of these contraptions to swoosh around the ice.
But, they do not look quite like the quiz pic version.
