Well, today's weather was quite different from yesterday's, so I\nshouldn't<\/span> be surprised that today's sunset was nothing compared to yesterday's once-in-a-lifetime\nsunset<\/a>. Still, one can hope, so today I made<\/span> the five-minute drive up\nto the Shogunzuka overlook and hoped for the best.<\/p>\n\n

I've posted dusk shots\nfrom here<\/a> before, and night shots as well<\/a>. (See\nthe “nearby photos” link under any picture for other posts with photos\ntaken from here.)<\/p>\n\n

I had<\/span> a short<\/span> chat with this couple visiting from Nagoya (about a two<\/span>-and-a-half hour drive away)...<\/p>\n\n

He was shooting, I think, a Nikon D2x (a pro<\/span>-level camera) on a tripod.<\/span> I could<\/span> tell by how the shutter clicks came in sets of three that he was\nshooting bracketed sets of shots, likely so that he could use HDR techniques<\/a> to work\naround the color-channel\nclipping issue<\/a> that I mentioned<\/span> yesterday.<\/p>\n\n

His wife waited patiently, silently (perhaps, even, enjoying the\nsunset herself :-)).<\/p>\n\n

He was using a camera accessory I'd never seen, a Velbon\nAction Level<\/a>, a small<\/span> little doohickey that clips into the flash shoe\non top of the camera, and shows a green<\/span> light when the camera is level. For reasons<\/span> I don't<\/span> understand, I tend to<\/span> take shots with the camera tipped a\nfew<\/span> degrees one way or the other, so I'm forever having to correct this in\nLightroom. My D700 has<\/span> a built<\/span> in level... I should<\/span> figure out how to use\nit, or get one of these doohickeys.<\/p>\n\n
