Fumie's dad is stationed in Malaysia<\/a> for work, but\nsince he's in town for his\n60th birthday<\/a>, he thought it'd be nice to try to see some fall colors.\n(They apparently don't have seasons in Malaysia.)<\/p>\n\n

I've posted a few fall-color previews (Part 1<\/a> · Part 2<\/a> · Part 3<\/a>) with photos from\nprevious years because it's still way too early in the season this year,\nbut as I mentioned<\/span><\/a> the\nother day, there are a few<\/span> hints of\ncolor<\/a> starting to appear, so we all headed out for a drive<\/span> in the mountains today.<\/p>\n\n

After about three hours (half of which was twisty narrow mountain\nroads), we stopped at a small<\/span> cafe that was, for all intents and purposes,\nin the middle of nowhere. (Even though we'd been driving for hours, we were\nactually still within the City of Kyoto, which covers great swaths of\nuninhabited mountains.)<\/p>\n\n

I didn't take any pictures except a few<\/span> in the parking lot. In the shot<\/span>\nbelow, Anthony plays with my iPhone while Fumie's mom looks on. You can see<\/span>\na hint<\/span> of the colors in the reflection....<\/p>\n\n

Yet, there were still summer flowers. I don't<\/span> quite understand the\ntiming, but in the shot below, the same stalk has buds, flowers, and old\nwilted remains...<\/p>\n\n
