Last week, Nils<\/a>\ninvited us to play at the river near the end of the train line that runs by\nhis house, so Anthony and I scootered<\/span> up there. It would<\/span> be the first time\nfor us to see Greg in ages...<\/p>\n\n

Sorry about the focus on the shot of Greg, but four-year-old boys\npretend to not understand “hold still so I can<\/span> focus.” The shot reminds me\nof this hunky picture of\nAnthony<\/a> when he was three and a half.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Anyway, I think<\/span> the last time we saw Greg was in the fall, when the kids\nwent chasing around tiered\nrice paddies<\/a>, and before that, a year<\/span> ago checking out some big\nmushrooms<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

For today's play, I didn't<\/span> really know what to\nexpect. I guess<\/span> I had<\/span> previous water play scenarios in mind (such as at Gen's house<\/a>, or impromptu river play with\nAkiko-chan<\/a>, or river\nplay with Gen<\/a>), and I ended<\/span> up bringing all the wrong stuff. It was shaded<\/span>, so I didn't<\/span> need the sunscreen and hats I did<\/span> bring, but it was\nreally inviting, so I wish<\/span> I would<\/span> have brought along my own bathing\nsuit.<\/p>\n\n

It seems that's a common effect, because people walking by would often pause,\nthink for a bit,<\/span> then throw caution to the wind and kick their shoes....<\/p>\n\n

The little water float was a big hit. Anthony loved being led around in\nit by Greg, who loved leading Anthony around in it.<\/p>\n\n

The river area was well sculpted to create all kinds of different play\nzones, with the “rapids” being at the bottom of a short<\/span> but steep chute at\none side of the river.<\/p>\n\n

Upstream just a bit is a footbridge that leads to Hiezan Cable Car that\ngoes up to the top of Mt. Hiezan. It makes<\/span> for somewhat of a picturesque<\/span>\nscene...<\/p>\n\n

At one point the sun came out and positively lit up some grass on the opposite bank, leading to some wonderful reflections...<\/p>\n\n
