This is the same area whose blossoms were featured in last week's It Has Begun<\/a> and this\nweek's Sakura from my\nKitchen Window<\/a>. Digging around in my blog archives<\/a>\na bit,<\/span> from 2006 I find<\/span>\n\nLong Night Exposures and Cherry Blossoms<\/a>\nand\nCherry Blossom Finale<\/a>,\nand even a few<\/span> from 2005 before I moved<\/span> here:\nIndeed, the Blooms have Bloomed in Kyoto<\/a>\nand\nPoetry for the Season<\/a>\nand\nMore Cherry-Blossom Pics<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

It's a pretty area, but photos would look much nicer without the\ncinderblock wall in the background (a wall<\/span> one doesn't really notice until\nyou look through the viewfinder).<\/p>\n\n

I'm so busy these days that I can barely see straight, but it's a\npositively<\/span> lovely<\/i> day, so I had<\/span> to head out for a bit<\/span> in the early\nafternoon. Most trees are at the<\/i> peak of their blossoms, combined\nwith being a weekend<\/span> and having wonderful weather, and you know it's\ncrowded. But it was<\/span> an exceedingly pleasant atmosphere, with the crowds\ncreating more of a quite<\/span> festive mood than anything resembling a madhouse.<\/span> For the most<\/span> part, it was everything that cherry blossom season in the city\nshould be. Despite my ongoing cold, I was completely<\/span> content.<\/p>\n\n

There are tons of cherry blossoms in view of the main gate of the Heian Shrine, so it's often a central<\/span> theme in people's sakura photographs. I'm a sucker<\/span> for the cliché, so I've done it myself plenty of times, such as in\nlast year's Sakura and the Main Gate of the Heian Shrine (With Desktop Background)<\/a>\nand\nEnjoying the Cherry Blossoms<\/a>, and probably a hundred<\/span> other times.\n(Heck, I've even done it with a can of coffee<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n

After a few minutes in this area, I wandered<\/span> around a bit<\/span> between here\nand the shrine, filling my camera's memory card along the way. There was\nfluffy white in abundance, but just to add some color, I'll include this\nshot from a tree<\/span> in the park where Anthony likes to ride his bike<\/a>....<\/p>\n\n

This particular tree was nowhere near full\nbloom yet, so I'll have to be sure to revisit it later in the week.<\/p>\n\n
