It's been almost two years since Anthony got a bicycle<\/span><\/a>, but\nalthough he enjoyed it a few<\/span> times at first, he didn't have all that much\ninterest again until lately, so when we went out for a ride<\/span> today, it was\nperhaps the half-dozenth time we'd been out. However, I have a<\/span> feeling\nhe'll really be wanting to do it more, because today – for the first\ntime – he was able to ride unassisted for fairly long stretches.<\/p>\n\n

I'd used Carlos' great\nadvice on teaching a kid<\/span> to ride a bike<\/span><\/a> a month<\/span> or so ago, which\nperhaps sparked Anthony's renewed interest.<\/p>\n\n

Kids often learn to ride bikes very early in Japan (three years old is\nnot uncommon), so at five years old, Anthony is pretty late in the game,\nbut he doesn't feel that — he's just proud, as are Fumie and I.<\/p>\n\n\n
