Thus, keeping\nthings tidy is an issue.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nWe have a nice electrostatic dry mop which picks up the dust well, but even\nif we sweep every day, during the sweeping the mop quickly creates families\nof dust bunnies that need to be corralled. Also, with things much larger\nthan dust, the mop just pushes them around.\n\n<\/p>\n<h3>The Solution<\/h3>\n<p>\n\nThus, we thought to augment the dry mop with <span class='nobr'>a small<\/span> cordless vacuum, which\nwe might use in tandem. Toward that end, we have been very happy with (and\nare happy to recommend) the Mitsubishi\n&#8220;Cordless Tascal&#8221; HC-Z11. (<span class='nobr'>I believe<\/span> that &#8220;Tascal&#8221; comes from the\nJapanese verb <i>tasukaru<\/i>, &#8220;to be helpful&#8221;.)\n\n<\/p>\n<h3>Kicking The Tires<\/h3>\n\n<p>Choosing a cordless vacuum is not an endeavor to be entered into lightly,\nso, being prudent, we engaged the services of <span class='nobr'>a professional<\/span> vacuum-testing\nservice.<\/p>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\">\n.t { border: 1px dotted #B0B0B0; padding: 15px 0 15px 0; margin: 5px 0 5px 0 }\n<\/style>\n\n<table class='t' cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"5\" width=\"100%\"><tr><td valign=\"top\"><a href=\"\/i\/pic\/2005-09-03_10:57.46__02625.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/pic\/2005-09-03_10:57:46__02625__8.jpg\" width=\"254\" height=\"184\"\nid=\"i2005_09_03_10_57_46__02625__8\"\/><\/a><\/td><td valign=\"middle\">\n\n<p> Here, you can see our professional vacuum tester showing how to use the\nTascal, displaying the classic vacuum pose.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Tascal is simplicity incarnate. Other than the hollow tube handle\nbeing extendible and removable from the main body, there are no switches,\nbuttons, attachments, levers, settings, or adjustments. Simply move the\nhandle from upright and it turns on. type\nmini-vac. However, while at the store, our vacuum professional made it\nimmediately clear that the Tascal was his recommended model. Despite the\nstore's floor model not having <span class='nobr'>a charged<\/span> battery, he demonstrated the\nvacuum motions extensively, at length, and with great enthusiasm. <span class='nobr'>I would<\/span> even go so far to say that his desire to stop and go home could only be\ndescribed as &#8220;exceedingly reluctant.&#8221;\n\n(Had the floor model actually worked, the store would have certainly had\nthe cleanest floor in all of Kyoto.)<\/p>\n\n<p>Seeing his enthusiasm for this model, we immediately abandoned our\nearlier thoughts and ordered <span class='nobr'>a Cordless<\/span> Tascal.<\/p>\n\n<p>We have been pleased ever since.<\/p>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\">\n#post73 img { border: none }\n<\/style>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our new place has almost all dark hardwood flooring, which means that dust shows itself quickly and persistently throughout the day.
