I feel slightly less pathetic today because we finally got our Christmas tree<\/a> put\naway. Also helping is that last week I finally<\/span> got around to sending the\n“thank you” notes Anthony wrote for his presents.<\/p>\n\n

In preparing for Anthony to write them, I wrote<\/span> “Thank you \/ Love,\nAnthony” on a separate<\/span> piece of paper, then suggested that after copying\nit, he fill the rest of the paper with whatever he wanted in order to\nexpress his thanks for the gifts, or his love, or whatever he wanted. When\nI returned,<\/span> these are the notes he had written.<\/p>\n\n

In the note for Santa, he drew a picture<\/span> of the twin tower train station<\/a>\nhe received, a picture<\/span> of Santa, and a big<\/span> heart.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/a>\nThank You Aunt Chickee and Uncle Mikey<\/span>\n<\/div>\n\n

Here, he drew some of the gifts from my brother and his wife: an\n“Anthony” bicycle license plate, an airplane toy, a bag<\/span> of those capsules\nthat puff and expand to a train<\/span>-shaped sponge when they get wet, and a book<\/span> that he really\nenjoys<\/a> that arrived in the same package, from Aunt Lizzie.<\/p>\n\n

<\/a>\nThank You Grandma and Grandpa<\/span>\n<\/div>\n\n

This note includes drawings of Grandma and Grandpa (with extreme\nartistic license for the hair, my mom being blond and my dad being a\ndistinguished<\/span> gray in the few places he's still got hair :-)), the helicopter thingy<\/a> he got\nfrom them, its box, a heart,<\/span> and a picture<\/span> of himself saying how much he\nloves them. I think<\/span> it's amazing how he came up with a way<\/span> to indicate in\nthe drawing speech coming from his own mouth.<\/p>\n\n

This note features the police uniform<\/a> and chef outfit<\/a> he received\nfrom my sister and her husband, along with their respective hats. Anthony\nalso added a picture<\/span> of himself, and a heart.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

This one for my brother and his wife sports some of the Curious George\nstickers he received from them, along with a drawing<\/span> of some of the sticker\nsheets and of some more of those “expand when they get wet” capsules (these\nfor animals) he likes so much. I was watching<\/span> as he drew this one, and\nthought he'd drawn another picture of himself, but no, this was Uncle Alan,\nwhich was soon joined by a visage<\/span> of Aunt Natalie. He wanted<\/span> to label them,\nso I wrote<\/span> the names on a separate<\/span> paper for him to copy.<\/p>\n\n

At right, under the big heart, he wrote his name in English<\/a>, then\na copied<\/span> “In Japanese” with an arrow leading to his name in Japanese<\/a>\n(backwards, perhaps because he was continuing in the direction of the\narrow?).<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
