Kyoto had some wonderful sunsets last month. The picture<\/span> above is a crop<\/span>\nfrom a shot<\/span> I took<\/span> from the top (fifth) floor of my building just after\nsunset. It doesn't look much different than the original frame, except for the size of the birds. Here's the uncropped frame...<\/p>\n\n

I'd used my 200mm zoom to try to isolate the orange, and just got lucky\nwith the birds. A couple<\/span> of minutes prior, I was using<\/span> my wide-angle lens\nand got some of the blah<\/i> cityscape in there, as well as an airplane\nfar above....<\/p>\n\n

It's interesting to compare the colors of this sunset with those on my\nSunset from the Ferry<\/a>\npost. This sunset was decidedly orange, while the other one was very red. The difference<\/span> perhaps was a lack<\/span> of haze this time? Adding weight to that\nhypothesis is that you'll find even redder colors on my Sunrise, Malaysian Style<\/a>\npost, from a morning<\/span> when both the humidity and temperature were approaching\n100.<\/p>\n\n

Anyway, back to this shot, I was happy<\/span> to have gotten that first one;\nI'd tried the same thing earlier in the month, and failed (the failed shot\nhaving been included on my first taste of fall colors<\/a>\npost).<\/p>\n\n

If you look carefully at the larger version<\/a>\nof that last shot, you can see Kyoto Tower – the tallest structure in\nKyoto – in the distance, to the left of center. (It also appears on\nthe first picture of my post about Kyoto Station<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
