{"id":640,"date":"2007-11-20T11:31:07","date_gmt":"2007-11-20T02:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2007-11-20\/640"},"modified":"2007-11-20T11:31:07","modified_gmt":"2007-11-20T02:31:07","slug":"lightroom-export-plugin-for-flickr-sort-of","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2007-11-20\/640","title":{"rendered":"Lightroom Export Plugin For Flickr (sort of)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n<p><b>UPDATE:<\/b> You can now <a href=\"\/blog\/photo-tech\/lightroom-flickr\/\">Download Here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>As I'm <i>still<\/i> waiting for word from Adobe that <span class='nobr'>I can<\/span> post <a\nhref=\"\/blog\/2007-11-16\/637\">my Zenfolio and SmugMug\nplugins<\/a> (&#8220;frustrated&#8221; does not even being to explain my feelings on\nthis matter), I've put the time to good use, developing <span class='nobr'>a plugin<\/span> for <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\">Flickr<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>To give a hint, here's what the export dialog looks like at the moment....<\/p>\n\n<div  class=\"ic\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/lr\/ExportPluginPost-flickr-dialog.gif\" width=\"613\" height=\"1313\"\nalt=\"Screenshot of the export dialog for my export-to-Flickr Lightroom plugin\"\nborder=\"0\"\nclass=\"old_floating_img\"\nid=\"iExportPluginPost_flickr_dialog\"\nindexhint=\"top\"\ntitle=\"Screenshot of the export dialog for my export-to-Flickr Lightroom plugin\"\/><\/div>\n\n<p>The SmugMug and Zenfolio plugins also got the ability to choose how the\nTitle (Zenfolio) or Caption (SmugMug) is derived, as shown in the &#8220;Title \/\nDescription&#8221; section of this screenshot.<\/p>\n\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/labs.adobe.com\/technologies\/lightroomsdk\/\">Lightroom\nExport-Plugin SDK<\/a> includes <span class='nobr'>a sample<\/span> export-to-Flickr plugin, and\nalthough <span class='nobr'>I have<\/span> not really looked at it since <span class='nobr'>I tested<\/span> <span class='nobr'>a version<\/span> of it <span class='nobr'>a\ncouple<\/span> of months ago, I've heard that it's fairly bare-bones from <span class='nobr'>a Flickr<\/span>\nuser's perspective. Mine, which <span class='nobr'>I hope<\/span> to release soon, is perhaps <span class='nobr'>a step<\/span>\ntoward <span class='nobr'>a more<\/span> complete user experience.<\/p>\n\n<p>(I should explain that the consulting <span class='nobr'>I did<\/span> for Adobe was to help test\nand debug the SDK and its &#8220;Lightroom SDK Guide&#8221; documentation. <span class='nobr'>In order<\/span> to\nhelp ensure that the documentation was correct and complete, <span class='nobr'>I explicitly<\/span> refrained from looking at the sample code. Thus, <span class='nobr'>I had to<\/span> read the docs and\ntry to understand things that way, and as <span class='nobr'>a result,<\/span> <span class='nobr'>I hope I<\/span> was able to\nprovide better feedback for them. <span class='nobr'>I didn't<\/span> use it as <span class='nobr'>a Flickr<\/span> user, either,\nbecause I'm not <span class='nobr'>a Flickr<\/span> user.)<\/p>\n\n<p>Since the SDK's Flickr plugin was for demonstration, it contains some\nthings <span class='nobr'>I would<\/span> prefer not to see in <span class='nobr'>a real<\/span> plugin, such as the various\nitems it adds to the File and Library menus. <span class='nobr'>My plugins<\/span> don't add any of\nthose.
