I seem to be buried under a photographic avalanche of my own making. I thought<\/span> that today I'd get started with the bonanza of interesting and\/or\npretty pictures that I\nhinted<\/span> at yesterday<\/a>, but instead, today I took<\/span> two more shots that I\nwant<\/span> to share.<\/p>\n\n

While waiting for the fall colors to come into full swing, there are the\noccasional early flashes of color that entertain. My office<\/span> window affords\na nice<\/span> view of the neighbor's front garden, with one such “early\nflash of color” tree. It was overcast<\/span> and rainy today, with\noccasional short bursts of sun sprinkled throughout, and during one such\nsprinkle I finally<\/span> gave in and snapped a picture.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

It's still got a fair amount of green, so I presume<\/span> that it'll only get\nmore brilliant over the next week or so. If it does<\/span> and the weather\ncooperates, I'll try the shot again with a wider<\/span> depth of field, as the\nthinness in the shot above is a bit<\/span> distracting, I think.<\/span> (Still, it's a nice<\/span> enough shot to be worth desktop-sized versions :-))<\/p>\n\n

This evening I had a chance to meet with a friend<\/span> I hadn't<\/span> seen in a\ncouple<\/span> of years, Kousuke Fukui. He retired<\/span> last spring, and has since taken\non quite the dapper look that suits him very well. I'm thrilled<\/span> with how\nthis picture turned out, that I snapped<\/span> handheld with available light while\nsitting across from him in a restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
