The next shot is representative of a common<\/span> scene around town, with many colors mixed together.<\/p>\n\n

The problem is getting a nice shot without wires, poles, signs, and\nother visual litter. Here's a wider<\/span> shot of the same scene, showing that the\ncolors extend quite a ways<\/span> both directions, but so does the reach of the\nwires. You don't really notice the wires and such when you're there because\nyou've long learned to tune them out, but you can't tune them out of a\nphoto,<\/span> so it's a common<\/span> letdown for me to find a wonderful<\/span> scene only to\nfind that it crumbles when I try<\/span> to look at it with an eye for capturing it\non film.<\/p>\n\n

The next picture, of a monk<\/span> walking under a\ncanopy<\/span> of yellow, is from outside the forsaken dorm<\/a> (Kyoto\nUniversity's Kumano Dorm). The lighting<\/span> was a bit<\/span> flat, but perhaps some of\nthe beauty shows through.<\/p>\n\n\n
