So, in 10 years, gas\nprices here have gone up about 30% in local (yen-priced) terms, and 11% in\nglobal (dollar-priced) terms.<\/p>\n\n<p>Now consider America: gas at the <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.gaspricewatch.com\/USGas_StationInfo.asp?GID=951290062305&amp;zip=95014\">station\nnear our Cupertino house<\/a> is currently $2.71\/gallon. <span class='nobr'>I don't<\/span> know what\nUS gas cost 10 years ago (<span class='nobr'>I was<\/span> in Japan), but <span class='nobr'>I know<\/span> that I've paid less\nthan $0.99\/gallon at that station since then (in about 1999 or 2000). So,\ngas in America has almost tripled in the last 10-or-so years.<\/p>\n\n<p>I don't know what to make of these numbers... just noticing that it's\nodd.
