The first, which happens to be the most common, is to leave\non time, do your best to park nearby, repeatedly glance at your watch, and\nthen start moving faster and faster. <span class='nobr'>By the time<\/span> you get to security, you\nrealize that you're quite late, so you cut the line (&#8220;My plane leaves\nin 10 minutes!&#8221; you shout). <span class='nobr'>You walk fast<\/span>. <span class='nobr'>As you get<\/span> closer to your\ngate, you realize that walking fast isn't going to work, so you start to\njog. Three gates away, you break into <span class='nobr'>a run,<\/span> and if you're lucky, you\nbarely make the flight.<\/p><p>\n\nThe second way is to leave for the airport 10 minutes\nearly.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<p>His post then <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/sethgodin.typepad.com\/seths_blog\/2005\/08\/hurry.html\">continues<\/a>\nto make pithy analysis of why human nature can tend to lead us to doing\nthings we'd rather not do, despite there being <span class='nobr'>a relatively<\/span> easy way to\navoid it. He says, for example:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote style='font-style:italic'><p>The easiest thing to do is to allow the urgency of the\nsituation to force us to make the decisions (or take the actions) that we'd\nrather not take. Why?
