One finally image from yesterday's rice harvest<\/a>, this picture\nof the lady is my favorite of the whole batch.<\/p>\n\n

I was using my new monopod<\/a> with a Nikon D200<\/a>\nand big Nikkor 70<\/span>-200mm f\/2.8 zoom<\/a> in manual-focus mode (which I tend<\/span>\nto use and enjoy much more now that I have<\/span> a Katz Eye focus\nscreen<\/a>), and I got<\/span> the focus perfect<\/b> for a change,<\/span> with clear\ndetails on each thread of the cloth over her face.<\/p>\n\n

Add to that the creaminess of the background that the shallow depth of\nfield that an f\/2.8 aperture provides, and I think<\/span> it's photographically\nwonderful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was pixel-peeping (“inspecting closely”) the full-resolution version,\nsomewhat basking in its glory, when I was<\/span> delighted to notice that she had\na stowaway<\/span> sitting on the back of her hat. I didn't<\/span> notice him at the time,\nso he's not in focus, but I thought<\/span> it was quite cute.<\/p>\n\n\n

It turns out that she had at least one or two crickets on her hat in\nalmost every shot, as did the man. For a while<\/span> I wondered<\/span> if they were hat\ndecorations, until I looked<\/span> at enough shots and saw that their number and\nlocation changed over time.
