Still looking to cool\noff<\/a>, so this time I'm going back to the fall when the leaves had just\nstarted to turn color, to when Anthony and I went<\/span> on a hike<\/span> up to the top\nof Mt. Daimonji (\u5927\u6587\u5b57\u5c71)<\/span> one of the short mountains overlooking eastern Kyoto,\nJapan. We did it<\/span> with his school friend Kana, her two brothers, and her\ndad.<\/p>\n\n

I'd done the same\nhike<\/a> the previous year, but without a four<\/span> year old, much less two.<\/p>\n\n

Kana and Anthony have a wonderful chemistry, as has been seen on my blog\nbefore (as they get caught\ngetting out of line<\/a>, find a way<\/span> to stay in line<\/a>, and ride a train<\/span><\/a> together). I was looking<\/span> forward to see what antics they'd be up to this time....<\/p>\n\n

I had my camera with me, of course, but the results were mostly pathetic\nfrom a technical<\/span> standpoint (poor focus, blurry, etc.). Still, I like the<\/span>\ncontent and the story they tell....<\/p>\n\n

We walked from our place through Nanzenji<\/a>, north along the\nPhilosopher's\nWalk<\/a>, until we cut east up toward the mountain.<\/p>\n\n

After 45<\/span> minutes and 67 meters of vertical climb, we were at the\noutskirts of the city about ready to dive into the mountain.<\/p>\n\n

Soon after that, we entered the mountains at the trail head, and started\nhiking up. It was mostly<\/span> fairly easy, although there were difficult\nportions from time to time. Anthony got tired quickly so I carried<\/span> him on\nmy back much of the way.<\/p>\n\n

Two hours and 392 vertical meters into the hike, we reached the top. We paused<\/span> at the benches there to enjoy the view, and eat lunch.<\/p>\n\n
