My Aunt Jeannette came to Kyoto this week with a tour<\/span> group from The\nStates. We're not related by blood, but by virtue of her having been\nfriends with my folks since I was<\/span> a kid.<\/span> I don't<\/span> think I'd met her since I\nwas<\/span> 10 or so, but I recognized<\/span> her right away when I went<\/span> to her hotel to\ntouch base yesterday.<\/p>\n\n

Anthony and I tagged along with her tour today. Anthony took to her\neasily, those friendly feelings perhaps eased along by the Fireman George\ngift she brought.<\/p>\n\n\n

I had a “snuggle chat” with Anthony this evening. Lately,\nwhen it's my turn to put him down for the night, we lie in bed with the\nlights off and chat. It's nice, because not having any toys to draw away\nhis attention, he says more about his feelings and what he's thinking. This\nevening, he said (and I quote,<\/span> word for word) in a warm<\/span> voice “I\nenjoyed<\/span> riding the bus and looking at old buildings with Aunt Jeannette\ntoday. I really<\/span> enjoyed that.”<\/p>\n\n

Upon hearing this, I'm not sure<\/span> which reaction I felt<\/span> more strongly,\nwarmth due to the sentiment, or pride due to the perfect, adult grammar. It was a<\/span> wonderful way to end a wonderful<\/span> day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
