Yoko-chan's daddy really appreciates music\n... jazz, classical, classic rock.... all kinds, and we were treated to <span class='nobr'>a\nwonderful<\/span> selection from his CD and LP collection throughout the evening.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nHe also plays the guitar quite well, and at one point he and another daddy\nhad <span class='nobr'>a little<\/span> jam session. <span class='nobr'>I snapped<\/span> <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span> wholly unremarkable pictures, but\n<span class='nobr'>I thought<\/span> I'd see whether <span class='nobr'>I could<\/span> turn them into something more\ninteresting. <span class='nobr'>I know that<\/span> he saw Eric Clapton two nights in <span class='nobr'>a row<\/span> when he\ncame to the area last year, so <span class='nobr'>I thought<\/span> I'd try to create <span class='nobr'>a Clapton<\/span>-esque\nimage album-cover type image.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nThe result is what you see above, and I'm really happy with it. This is one\nof those cases where the &#8220;happy with it&#8221; is more because it's\nbetter than <span class='nobr'>I thought<\/span> I'd be able to do, and not because an impartial\nobserver would think it's great.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nIt required much more artistic skill than Photoshop skill, which is why <span class='nobr'>I\nworried<\/span> that I'd not be able to make what <span class='nobr'>I envisioned.<\/span> <span class='nobr'>I futzed<\/span> around\nwith many approaches in Photoshop, finally happening onto this result\nthat encompasses <span class='nobr'>a number<\/span> of layers: <span class='nobr'>a gray<\/span> background, the spotlight, the\nsquiggled in shadow, <span class='nobr'>a rough<\/span> outline of Yoko-chan's daddy with <span class='nobr'>a Darken<\/span>\nblend mode, <span class='nobr'>a full<\/span>-opacity filled in version of Yoko-chan's daddy, and\nfinally, treatments with the &#8220;Water Paper&#8221; and &#8220;<a\nhref=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Craquelure\">Craquelure<\/a>&#8221; filters.\n\n<\/p>\n\n<p>In the end, <span class='nobr'>I'm quite<\/span> pleased.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\n\nOn the other hand, others tend to laugh when they see it.
