Over the course of <span class='nobr'>a second<\/span> or two, this sand would build up\nenough that it would become <span class='nobr'>a little<\/span> wall, diverting the water to one side\nor another. <span class='nobr'>The result<\/span> was <span class='nobr'>a mesmerizing,<\/span> constantly updated pattern in the\nsand.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class='ic'><a name='024627' href=\"\/i\/JEF_024627.jpg\"\n><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/JEF_024627_sm.jpg\" width=\"690\" height=\"462\"\nalt=\"&amp;mdash;
