Here are a few random pictures from our end-of-year mini trip (related\nposts: Ryokan Food<\/a>,\nand Anthony in a\nYukata<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n\n

I'll start with the first picture I took,<\/span> from the driveway of the\nryokan<\/a>, just after we arrived (about 40 minutes after sunset). The wind off<\/span> the ocean was really really<\/b> REALLY strong — I had<\/span> to\nstruggle to close the car door against it — and cold. It was facing<\/span>\ninto this wind that I snapped<\/span> this shot before heading in. (If you squint, you can see the next landfall, Indonesia, about 2,500 miles away.)<\/p>\n\n

During an outing on the first full day there, basically at the edge of\nnowhere, we came across this vivid plant struggling amidst the bleak grey\nof a concrete<\/span> retaining wall...<\/p>\n\n
