There's got to be a name for the little roof that sits on top of a wall,<\/span>\nbut I don't<\/span> know what it is. The wall here<\/span> is next to the entrance to the\nKonpukuji Temple (\u91d1\u798f\u5bfa).<\/span> It's the first<\/span> place that Nils and I went<\/span> on our\nlittle trip<\/a> the other\nday, and even the little garden just outside the enterance was really\nbeautiful.<\/p>\n\n

Here's a partial view of the garden, looking toward the enterance (with\nthe subject of the first photo being just to the upper right of the\nenterance, obscured by some green leaves):<\/p>\n\n

He sits ready to accept your 400-yen (US $3.50) enterance fee, and\nprovides a paper<\/span> with a bit<\/span> of history about the place. (I should<\/span> note that\nNils<\/a> kindly took care of the\nenterance fee for me — thanks!)<\/p>\n\n

The temple was founded circa 865, and is most noted for two famous poets\nwho spent time there: Basho Matsuo<\/a> in 1670,\nand Yosa Buson<\/a> about\na hundred<\/span> years later.<\/p>\n\n
