Paul Barr, in town this week, and I made<\/span> a visit<\/span> yesterday to the Tenjuan\nTemple (\u5929\u6388\u5eb5)<\/span> within the Nanzen Temple complex. It was my<\/span> second visit inside, my first visit here<\/a> having been three years ago. Earlier this year, though, I did feature<\/span> the main gate of this shrine covered in snow<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Anyway, the fall colors<\/span> this year in Kyoto seem a bit<\/span> subdued, but it\nwasn't crowded yesterday and overall was really pleasant. We ended<\/span> up sitting and enjoying more than\ntaking photos.<\/p>\n\n

With the dark shadows under the overhang, and bright sunlight in the\nbackground, the scene wasn't an appropriate one to try to get everything\nin, but I did<\/span> a\nthree<\/span>-burst exposure-bracket sequence. Even though it was handheld,\nLightroom's HDR-merge could handle it perfectly. However, the result was\nlittle changed from the middle source image, but with the added latitude\nI could<\/span> then perform “<\/span>single-frame HDR<\/a>”<\/span> to get a result<\/span> that\nincludes detail in both dark and bright areas, but the result just feels\nfake.<\/p>\n\n

I can't believe it's been three years since I made<\/span> “<\/span>Elegance in Kyoto\u2019s Tenjyuan Garden<\/a>”<\/span> at this spot, one of my first wigglegrams<\/a>.\nIt feels<\/span> like it was just last year.<\/p>\n\n
