{"id":2588,"date":"2015-06-18T15:23:59","date_gmt":"2015-06-18T06:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2015-06-18\/2588"},"modified":"2015-06-18T15:23:59","modified_gmt":"2015-06-18T06:23:59","slug":"fixing-a-fuzzy-viewfinder-on-a-panasonic-lx100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2015-06-18\/2588","title":{"rendered":"Fixing a Fuzzy Viewfinder on a Panasonic LX100"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<p>As <a href='\/blog\/2015-06-16\/2587'><span class='nobr'>I posted<\/span><\/a> the\nother day, I've got <span class='nobr'>a new<\/span> camera to use while cycling, <span class='nobr'>a Panasonic<\/span> LX100. <span class='nobr'>I used it<\/span> on <a\nhref='https:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/327249863'>yesterday's 140km\nmountain ride<\/a>, but couldn't use the viewfinder because the viewfinder\nfocus (the <span class='QO'>&#8220;<\/span>diopter control<span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span>) stopped working, and the view via the\nviewfinder was completely fuzzy (including the information displays that\nshould be sharp and clear even if the image through the lens is not yet\nfocused).<\/p>\n\n<p>A search on the web quickly showed that this was <span class='nobr'>a common<\/span> problem\nsometimes fixed by fiddling with the diopter dial, but usually resulting in\n<span class='nobr'>a return<\/span> or <span class='nobr'>a replacement<\/span> of the product.<\/p>\n\n<p>Not wanting the hassle of a return, <span class='nobr'>I looked<\/span> into fixing it myself, and\nwas able to do so easily.<\/p>\n\n<p>The bottom side of the viewfinder housing has <span class='nobr'>a single<\/span> small screw, which <span class='nobr'>I removed<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n<div class='ic' itemscope itemtype='http:\/\/schema.org\/Photograph'><a name=\"i077509\" href='\/i\/JF4_077509.jpg' itemprop='image'\n><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/JF4_077509_sm.jpg\" width=\"690\" height=\"459\"\nalt=\"\"\nid=\"i077509\"\/><\/a>\n<br\/><span class=\"camera-info robots-nocontent\">Nikon D4 + Venus 60mm Super Macro f\/2.8 &mdash; (In retrospect, <span class='nobr'>I should<\/span> have used <span class='nobr'>a toothpick.<\/span>)<\/p>\n\n<p>That gentle poking in its general area, along with more movement of the\nwheel, seems to have done the trick... <span class='nobr'>I could<\/span> now focus the viewfinder so\nthat <span class='nobr'>I could<\/span> see the display sharply.<\/p>\n\n<p>I don't know exactly what I did or why whatever it is worked, but it was\neasy enough, so <span class='nobr'>I thought<\/span> I'd mention it in case anyone else has the same\nproblem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As I posted the other day, I've got a new camera to use while cycling, a Panasonic LX100.
