It's been 10 years since I started my blog with “<\/span>Choosing a Car<\/span> to Buy in\nJapan<\/a>”<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n

That was followed the same day by “<\/span>Essentials for a First<\/span>-Time Parent<\/a>”<\/span>,\nand then another 10 years and 2,327 additional articles (not counting this\none \ud83d\ude09<\/span>) containing 18,133 photos, as well as other little\nadditions such as the interactive map\nof blog photos<\/a> and the sporadically-maintained prettiest-photos\nphotostream<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

I would have liked to post something spectacular for my tenth-anniversary post,\nbut having just returned to\nKyoto<\/a> from a long trip\nto The States<\/a>, I just don<\/span>'t have the energy.<\/p>\n\n

I did, at least, make an attempt to try something new for this\nanniversary post: to make my first cinemagraph<\/a>. I figured<\/span> that this could be a nice<\/span> complement to my\nwigglegrams<\/a>, but my first attempt resulted in failure:<\/p>\n\n

The cherry blossoms visible from my balcony are currently in their most\nexquisitely-beautiful state, infusing a joie de vivre<\/a> in all who\nwitness them in person, but I just<\/span> can't capture that sense in photos, and\nso my cinemagraph was doomed from the start with boring, bland, dull, ugly\nsource material. But maybe<\/span> I'll learn one day, and perhaps for my\n20th-anniversary blog post I'll refer back to this with the same nostalgia\nthat today I have<\/span> when looking back at my early blog. <\/p>\n\n

Indeed, looking back over the blog's Table\nof Contents<\/a> to older articles, I think<\/span> I've improved in writing and\nphotography. Some of the old stuff is pretty bad.<\/p>\n\n

I'd like to be able to list my “<\/span>best”<\/span> articles for the decade, but\nthere's no easy way to understand what “<\/span>best”<\/span> means. Looking at which\narticles have received the most views is not as meaningful as one might\nexpect because it's more of an indication of which articles happened to\ncatch a high<\/span>-trafficked website's fancy over the years.<\/p>\n\n
