Today I'm sharing the first results from “<\/span>Photo-Development Challenge:\nInspire Me and Others With Your Artistic Interpretation<\/a>”<\/span>. Today's photo\nis one of some minor outlying buildings at the Yoshiminedera Temple (\u5584\u5cef\u5bfa)<\/span>\nin Kyoto, Japan.<\/p>\n\n

First, let's look at the uninspiring original:<\/p>\n\n

This was from a productive outing four years ago that produced\n“<\/span>Temple Hopping in the Mountains of South-Western Kyoto<\/a>”<\/span>,\n\ntwo examples for\n“<\/span>Heading Out To Photograph The Fall Foliage? Don\u2019t Forget The Polarizer Filter<\/a>”<\/span>, and an item on\n\n“<\/span>Visiting My Photo Archives: Random Pretty Shots #1<\/a>”<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n

For lack of a better idea, I'll present the various results in the order\nI received<\/span> them, starting with my own interpretation that I apparently<\/span> did\nwhen I was<\/span> considering to post it four years ago:<\/p>\n\n

The only change is the white-balance setting, though the impact is\nsubstantial. When writing a blog<\/span> post about some place I've visited, I usually<\/span> think of photos in terms of documenting the experience, and so I\nguess<\/span> I didn't<\/span> do much. (Often I'll do a lot<\/span> to a photo,<\/span> but perhaps\nbecause I ended<\/span> up not including this one in a blog<\/span> post, I didn't<\/span> give it\nmuch critical thought.)<\/p>\n\n
