Once configured,\nit can tell you the age of people in <span class='nobr'>a photo,<\/span> and include that data in exports.<\/p>\n\n<p>It's consumed me for weeks. The idea of calculating and displaying <span\nclass='nobr'>a person's<\/span> age seems quite straightforward and simple,\ndoesn't it? It's not. <span class='nobr'>Date calculations are\nsurprisingly<\/span> fraught with complexity, and presentation all the more\nso when you take into account dealing with all the languages that Lightroom\ncan work in.<\/p>\n\n<p>English is simple in that we use the same <span class='QO'>&#8220;<\/span>year<span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span> word for\ndealing with how long ago something happened (<span\nclass='QO'>&#8220;<\/span><i>this picture was taken five years ago<\/i><span\nclass='QC'>&#8221;<\/span>) and how old someone is (<span\nclass='QO'>&#8220;<\/span><i>this kid is five years old<\/i><span\nclass='QC'>&#8221;<\/span>). <span class='nobr'>Not all languages<\/span> are\nso simple... Japanese, for example, uses completely different words for\n<span class='QO'>&#8220;<\/span>years<span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span> when\ntalking about ages.<\/p>\n\n<p>Then you have to take into account special cases, such as the day of birth,\nor even when someone is tagged in <span class='nobr'>a photo<\/span> before they're born (think ultrasound scan).<\/p>\n\n<p>There's still plenty of features I'd like to add, but what I'm releasing today is <span class='nobr'>a good<\/span> start.\nNotably missing, for example, is <span class='nobr'>a way<\/span> to inject people information into exported captions when you're <i>not<\/i> using\none of <a href='\/blog\/lightroom-goodies\/'>my many export\/publish plugins<\/a>. <span class='nobr'>But if you<\/span> are,\nthe configuration for who's name and\/or age should appear is remarkably powerful. <span class='nobr'>A standalone<\/span> solution will come later.<\/p>\n\n<p>The plugin is <a href='\/blog\/lightroom-goodies\/people-support'>here<\/a><\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I've finally released a new plugin for Adobe Lightroom that I've been working on for some time, my \"People Support\" plugin.
