When I mention “<\/span>Shogunzuka”<\/span>, it can refer to an overlook with\nnice views of Kyoto<\/a> that I often<\/span> visit for\nsunsets, or its nearby temple<\/a>. The latter<\/span> has long had\na dilapidated<\/span> observation deck<\/a>, but for the last\nyear they were working on a remodel,<\/span> and this past October they finally unveiled a new<\/span> temple building\nand spiffy observation deck.<\/p>\n\n\n

This past October 8th they finally had the grand opening, so I popped<\/span> up for a visit.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The new building is actually an old building moved here and repurposed for use as a temple,<\/span> but that'll be the subject\nof another post. Today we're looking at just the observation deck and its views.<\/p>\n\n

The green roof just to the upper left of the orange gate that looks like\na temple<\/span> is actually part of the Kyoto City Municipal Museum of Art, and\nthe temple-like roofs to its upper right are of the martial arts center\n(where I took<\/span> photos for “<\/span>My First Look at Kendo:\nMasters Tournament in Kyoto<\/a>”<\/span>).<\/p>\n\n

Another direction shows the Chion'in Temple and its main building shrouded in a\nprotective<\/span> shell<\/a>...<\/p>\n\n\n

The big temple-looking roof in the center above is the main gate of the Nanzen Temple,\nseen from ground level here<\/a>, and\nfrom another (lower) mountain here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

The temple buildings in the center are of the Komyouji Temple, which I visited<\/span> last year for some spectacular\nshots, but I've yet to post any but this one<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Mt. Yoshida, a tiny bump of a mountain that's fun to explore, has been mentioned in my blog many times,\nincluding\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>, and\nhere<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Looking back to the new (old) building, you can see that the bump on the end of it is completely new construction...<\/p>\n\n
