Last week's “<\/span>Slightly Queasy\nWigglegram<\/a>”<\/span> showed a small<\/span> corner of a building<\/span> at the Kongorinji\nTemple (\u91d1\u525b\u8f2a\u5bfa)<\/span> in Shiga Japan, from a visit<\/span> last month toward the start\nof this year's fall-foliage season.<\/p>\n\n

This post looks a bit more at the building, which is not the temple's main\nbuilding, but does front the main garden. (The main garden was\nseen four years ago in “<\/span>The Kongourinji Temple: Main\nGarden, and Beyond<\/a>”<\/span>.)<\/p>\n\n

It can be partitioned into various rooms, but many of the partitions\nwere slid away revealing an open view all the way through to the garden on\nthe other side, naturally inviting this kind of shot...<\/p>\n\n

When we shoot together, we often “<\/span>see”<\/span> the same shot naturally, but even\nwhen we don't, we do recognize a good<\/span> perspective when we see one of the\nother's taking the shot. And as it<\/span> happens quite often when we're out,\nonce one of us starts taking a shot,<\/span> other folks who happen by start doing the same:<\/p>\n\n

A hundred people might walk by that doorway without taking a shot,<\/span> but\nonce one of us does, almost everyone who walks by for the next while\nwill. It's funny.<\/p>\n\n

If you walk around to camera right (as seen in the views above) and then look back at the corner of the building\nyou just passed, you'd see the scene seen in the aforementioned queasy\nwigglegram<\/a>...<\/p>\n\n

I love these things,\nas evidenced by how often they appear on my blog over the years (such as\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>, and\nhere<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n

If you step up onto the veranda seen above (after taking off your shoes,\nof course), then step into the red carpet and look back to where the above\nphoto was taken, you get this view...<\/p>\n\n

The red carpet is the one seen in this post's lead photos, looking from left to right out the window at the far right.<\/p>\n

It was very dark inside compared to the brightness outside.<\/p>\n\n

After loaning Damien my Voigtl\u00e4nder Macro 125mm f\/2.5<\/a> so he could\ntake detail shots of the dragons, I retrieved<\/span> it and gave it a go<\/span> myself.<\/p>\n\n

It turns out that they're not just paintings... they're a hybrid<\/span> painting \/ carving, and they have real depth.<\/p>\n\n
