Hiei Climb Challenge 2014, Part 2<\/a><span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span>, that covered my 3rd annual hike up Kyoto's Mt. Hiei.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u6b21\u306e<span class='nobr'>\u6bd4\u53e1\u5c71<\/span>\u306e<span class='nobr'>\u5e74\u6b21\u5c71\u767b<\/span>\u308a\u306f\uff15\uff11<span class='nobr'>\u9031\u9593\u65e9<\/span>\u304f\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f<span class='nobr'>\u3002\u4eca\u56de<\/span>\u306f\u30ab\u30e1\u30e9\u3092<span class='nobr'>\u6301\u3063<\/span>\u3066\u884c\u304b\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\uff08\u30a2\u30a4\u30db\u30f3<span class='nobr'>\u4ee5\u5916\uff09<\/span>\u306e\u3067\u3053\u306e<span class='nobr'>\u8a18\u4e8b<\/span>\u306e<span class='nobr'>\u5199\u771f<\/span>\u306f\u307e\u305a\u3044<span class='nobr'>\u3002\u5fa1\u514d\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>Previous attempts:<\/p>\n\n<ul><li><p>The first year's hike wrecked me so much that it shocked me into getting in shape.<\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>The 2nd year (last year's) was better but still quite <span class='nobr'>a challenge.<\/span><\/p><\/li>\n<li><p>This year's hike, two weeks ago, was much better almost to the point of <span class='QO'>&#8220;<\/span>easy<span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span>, but giving the hike back down <span class='nobr'>a try<\/span> for the first time ended up\nkilled my knees and ankles, leaving me in pain for <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span> days and sort of took the luster off what would have otherwise been <span class='nobr'>a feeling<\/span> of accomplishment.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>So, I decided to do my fourth-annual hike 51 weeks early.<\/p>\n\n<p>My goal was the self-satisfaction of doing the hike up quickly without\nfeeling like <span class='nobr'>I killed<\/span> myself. <span class='nobr'>I packed<\/span> lightly: in particular, no camera\nexcept for the iPhone. <span class='nobr'>It was overcast<\/span> and the rain we'd had for <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span> days\nwas threatening to return, but this meant that it was pleasantly cool when\n<span class='nobr'>I departed<\/span> home at 8:15am last Friday.<\/p>\n\n<p>The walk to the trailhead normally takes 45 minutes, but <span class='nobr'>I decided<\/span> to\njog it this time and so it took only about 24 minutes.
