Today was fun.<\/p>\n\n

My brother Alan<\/a> and\nhis wife Natalie<\/a> and\ntheir 4¾ year old Titi<\/a> are also\nvisiting my folks here in Ohio, and we had a fair<\/span> amount of snow.<\/p>\n\n

Titi's day started with feeding the birds with Grandma (as regularly<\/a> happens<\/a> here) for an\nhour. It was cold (14F \/ -10C),<\/span> so when they came\nin from that it was time for some hot cocoa by the fire...<\/p>\n\n\n

I had a nice reaction to the “<\/span>Goldfinches in a Light<\/span>\nSnow<\/a>”<\/span> post the other day, so I thought<\/span> I'd try some more bird shots. I ended<\/span> up being out there for only 10 minutes before other tasks called me\naway, but got a couple<\/span> of nice shots...<\/p>\n\n

Then it was time for some snow play, just like last year with Anthony<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Natalie noticed humongous<\/i> snowflakes on her jacket... I'd never<\/span> seen the beautiful patterns of a snowflake<\/span> with the naked eye, but wow, I could<\/span> sure see them today...<\/p>\n\n\n

I couldn't believe that I could get snowflake shots with a normal<\/span> lens\n(even my favorite\nmacro<\/a>). The results<\/span> are not great as far as snowflake shots go (for\nexample, these<\/a>),\nbut it's enough to make me wonder what I could<\/span> do with a bit<\/span> more preparation (and a platform<\/span>\nnot moving around when her daughter runs up).<\/p>\n\n\n
