Fumie presented him with some\nnew toys to play with, and with them time went by quickly.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\n<b><span class='nobr'>A long<\/span>-flight travel tip<\/b>: <span class='nobr'>I had<\/span> ordered <span class='nobr'>a special,<\/span> low-cal meal for\nthe flight. <span class='nobr'>I need to<\/span> watch my weight, but the real reason <span class='nobr'>I did<\/span> this is\nbecause (at least on United Airlines), ordering <span class='nobr'>a special<\/span> mean means that\nyou get at the very start of meal service, well before others (up to half\nan hour before others, depending on where you're sitting). <span class='nobr'>And at least<\/span> on\nUnited Airlines, the specialty meals are very good. Anyway, getting one\nmeal at first, then two later, is much easier than getting three at once. <span class='nobr'>It leaves<\/span> one adult meal-free to be with Anthony if he's attention-needy,\nallowing the other to eat. <span class='nobr'>It also gives<\/span> <span class='nobr'>a wider<\/span> variety of food from which\nto pick things for Anthony.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nHaving arrived at 4PM local time (midnight California time), we stayed one\nnight in the airport hotel, leaving the two-hour drive to Kyoto for after\nsome sleep. <span class='nobr'>The smoothness<\/span> of our trip was broken <span class='nobr'>a bit<\/span> the next morning in\nthe shuttle van when Anthony unexpectedly threw up, but luckily he seemed\nokay (perhaps just overly tired), and we were able to get things cleaned up\nfairly well.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nArriving back at our place after two months away was <span class='nobr'>a joy,<\/span> especially\nbecause we were able to leave it clean. <span class='nobr'>It's so nice<\/span> to come home to <span class='nobr'>a\nclean<\/span> house.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nA day of sleep later and we're back on track. <span class='nobr'>Our next step<\/span> is to deal with\nall our luggage, and then <span class='nobr'>I have<\/span> something like 10,000 photos to process. <span class='nobr'>I'd better<\/span> hurry, because Fall in Kyoto is glorious.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nTo give a taste for Kyoto in the fall, here's one of my favorite pictures\nfrom last fall:<\/p>\n\n<div class='img_center' style='margin-top:10px'>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2005-11-30\/106\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/pic\/2005-11-26_09:15.35__04066__4.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\"\nborder=\"1\"\nid=\"i2005_11_26_09_15_35__04066__4\"\nstyle=\"margin-bottom:5px\"\/><\/a><br\/><b>Ryouanji Temple <span class='nobr'>(\u9f8d\u5b89\u5bfa),<\/span> Fall 2005<\/b> (<a href=\"\/blog\/2005-11-30\/106\">blog post<\/a>)\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> We're back in Kyoto now.
