I'm still overwhelmingly steeped in Lightroom plugin\ndevelopment<\/a> of late, but did get out with the camera a few<\/span> times over\nthe weekend. On Friday<\/span> I met<\/span> some friends visiting Kyoto, and in the shot\nabove one is taking a photo<\/span> of a stuffed<\/span> bunny at the Heian Shrine (\u5e73\u5b89\u795e<\/span>\n\u5bae), as part of a project<\/span> for a friend's<\/span> daughter, showing the bunny in\nvarious situations around Japan.<\/p>\n\n

Over Saturday and Sunday, I took a family<\/span> trip to Iwakuni in western Japan to visit some relatives,\nand as part of the trip stopped by Miyajima Island (\u5bae\u5cf6)<\/span> and its famous Itsukushima Shrine (\u53b3\u5cf6\u795e\u793e)<\/span> for a few<\/span> minutes,\nmy first visit since 2007<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

This time it was an impromptu visit after dusk (low light) without a tripod,<\/span> so I probably<\/span> didn't get much,\nbut I grabbed<\/span> two shots for this post. Here's someone having a bit<\/span> of quiet time on the seawall...<\/p>\n\n

The next day in Iwakuni City, while looking down from a bridge,<\/span> I saw potential<\/span> in the geometric shapes of this scene:<\/p>\n\n

I'm not sure what's lacking, but it doesn't quite have the oomph I'd hoped.<\/p>\n\n

All the photos above are of someone's back (I'm getting “<\/span>back”<\/span> into the\nswing of shooting, get it?), but here's one just to see some faces. These\nkids asked me to take their photo, but had no interest in getting a copy.<\/span>.. I guess<\/span> they just like posing:<\/p>\n\n\n
