Trying to get back into the swing of a normal<\/span> routine after returning home to Kyoto<\/a> from a\nthree<\/span>-week family vacation, I'm starting<\/span> to look at more of the photos I\ntook<\/span> during the trip.<\/p>\n\n

Half of the trip was spent in Bellingham Washington (near Vancouver) at\nmy sister Marci's place — it's her son Josh featured in “Slice of\nAmericana: Anthony\u2019s Cousin is Bat Boy at a Local<\/span> Baseball Game<\/a>”\n— with our brothers Mike and Alan (and their families) later joining\nus so that all of Anthony's American cousins were together for the first\ntime in four\nyears<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

I'm in good shape for the first time in many years, though I was<\/span> never athletic to begin with, so\nI was<\/span> excited to give it a shot<\/span> when the opportunity came to go hit some baseballs. I think<\/span> I last<\/span>\ntried baseball when I was<\/span> in second-grade little league, where I never<\/span> got a hit<\/span> during a game.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

We had only a little-league kid's bat, so that made it somewhat of a\nchallenge,<\/span> but we were all able to hit well and especially for me, being my\nfirst time in 40 years and all, it felt supremely satisfying to do so.<\/p>\n\n

My brother Alan may know his way around a baseball<\/span> diamond, but despite\ngiving it a good<\/span> try, wasn't so hot his first time with a Nikon<\/span> D4 and a\n70<\/span>-200m f\/2.8 zoom, so there aren't too many pictures of me....<\/p>\n\n

It was great fun, and even with the tiny kid's bat we all got shots out\nnear the 300-foot wall of the little-league park. Marty had the most\ndifficult time of it because he didn't have the benefit of him pitching to\nhimself (he's the best pitcher among us), so he had to make do with\nthe less-than-stellar pitching of us brothers.<\/p>\n\n
