This post is sort of a continuation of\n“Hoverfly and Hydrangea<\/a>”, from a trip<\/span> last month\nwith Aeron<\/a>\nto the gardens of the Heian Shrine (\u5e73\u5b89\u795e\u5bae)<\/span> in eastern Kyoto.<\/p>\n\n

The light was really not very good (mostly quite harsh), and I was<\/span>\nenjoying the conversation with Aeron more than I was<\/span> paying attention to\nthe photography, but I thought<\/span> I'd share a few<\/span> more pictures anyway.<\/p>\n\n

Some of the trees in the garden had wonderfully “interesting”, twisted\nshapes, though I had<\/span> no idea what to do with them camera wise. As I said<\/span>,\nthe light was often really harsh, which seemed in this case to call for\nsome contrasty B&W treatments.<\/p>\n\n

Of course, I can't stop playing with things to interactively illustrate photography stuff, such as recent\npresentations of the effect of aperture<\/a> on a cherry<\/span>-blossom\nscene, or the effect of shutter speed<\/a> on flowing water.\nHere's a pair<\/span> of shots showing the effect of a polarizer<\/span> filter (\u504f\u5149<\/span>\u30d5\u30a3\u30eb\u30bf):<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
