It's been ages since I've been out with just me and the camera, so I took<\/span> some time for myself yesterday\nto visit the Kuuya-taki Waterfall (\u7a7a\u4e5f\u6edd)<\/span> in the mountains of western Kyoto. I first<\/span> posted about it\na year<\/span> ago<\/a>, and have since posted many updates,\nsuch as here<\/a> and here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

It had been raining recently, so yesterday I hoped<\/span> to get lucky with a\nlarge<\/span> flow of water over the falls, and also lucky to miss rain while I was<\/span>\nthere.<\/p>\n\n

I was not as lucky as I had hoped.<\/p>\n\n

I had hoped for the best, but had prepared for the worst, so I had<\/span> rain\ngear, umbrella, etc., so I could<\/span> still try to make some shots, but it was a\nmiserable<\/span> time.<\/p>\n\n

Since I was there, I wanted to try to make the best of it, but I seemed<\/span> to not be able to get into a groove.<\/span> The shot below<\/span> seems to completely lack a reasonable<\/span> perspective, despite having been taken from a spot<\/span> that\noffered such a great<\/span> view...<\/p>\n\n

The huge (6-story tall?) waterfall in the far background looks tiny, and so do the logs in the foreground. The big stone<\/span> gate is almost invisible.<\/p>\n\n

The other day someone contacted me asking whether they could use one of my photos to illustrate a quote<\/span> attributed to Thomas Jefferson:<\/p>\n\n

The photo in question was of pretty bad quality, so while I was<\/span> out\nthere I looked<\/span> for an appropriate scene. I took a<\/span> bunch of shots that I've\nstill yet to check out, but the shot above (and the shot at the start of\nthe post) are two attempts.<\/p>\n\n
