A final post to round out Part 1<\/a> and Part 2<\/a> about this year's\nAoi Matsuri festival (\u8475\u796d),<\/span> at the Kyoto Imperial Palace Park last week,\nwhich is a parade<\/span> of period costumes from a millennium<\/span> or so ago.<\/p>\n\n

This particular rope was such a pain.<\/span> When i took this picture the\nparade had already ended and the rope would soon be dismantled, but during\nand before the parade, the rope separated the crowd from the parade\nparticipants, and if the rope had been equally taut everywhere, all the\nspectators would have been on the same plane and had the same view, but\nthat one particular section of rope had a tremendous<\/span> amount of slack, and\npeople who happened to be there took advantage of it by pushing well past\nwhere they knew they were allowed to go, destroying the view for everyone\nelse behind them. Some even broke out big sun umbrellas, as if to ensure\nmaximum rudeness. I arrived<\/span> early to secure a spot<\/span> that granted the nice\nshots I wanted,<\/span> but lost them all to these inconsiderate clods.<\/p>\n\n

Anyway, the preschool kids who stopped by to enjoy the park as everyone else\nwas leaving were cute...<\/p>\n\n
