I popped over to the Imperial Palace Park (“Kyoto Gosho”, \u4eac\u90fd\u5fa1\u6240)<\/span> yesterday for some\nblossom Joie de Vivre<\/a> kind of shots of folks enjoying the many blossoms...\nmostly peach and cherry these days. It's the same<\/span> place I took<\/span> a bunch<\/span> of blossom closeups seen two weeks ago in\n“The Buds and Blossoms are Just Peachy<\/a>”, but this time the lens was the very special\nthe Nikkor 300mm f\/2<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

The bokeh<\/i><\/a>\nwith this lens can be great (such as here<\/a>), but the bright branches in the background of the shot above\nseem pretty harsh to me.<\/p>\n\n

She had just taken a drink of water, and then noticed that her shirt was\nsuddenly wet. At that age<\/span>, she probably doesn't notice any relationship\nbetween the two events. Cute.<\/p>\n\n

I like this kind of shot, but it's tough at 300mm because you have to be so far away and can't have anyone in between.\nPatience<\/i> is required in large amounts with this lens in this environment.<\/p>\n\n

I think these are cherry (on a tree across from the colorful peach), but normally the blososms come out first, then eventually\nas they start to fall off the leaves come out, but in this case the leaves are well formed before the blossoms are even fully out. It's a strange<\/span> year. Cherry blossoms in general are very early this year in Kyoto.<\/p>\n\n

The guy above was about the only person in kimono the whole time, quite\na bit<\/span> different than the\nlovely scenes last year<\/a>. In this I<\/span> was disappointed.<\/p>\n\n\n
