I made a short visit today to the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (\u5317\u91ce\u5929\u6e80\u5bae),<\/span> famous for its plum blossoms. I'd gone\nthree weeks ago<\/a> when\nonly a few<\/span> blossoms had appeared, but now it's pretty much in full bloom.<\/p>\n\n

There was the slightest of rain... you didn't need an umbrella for the most part... which kept the crowds down. It was quite<\/span> pleasant.<\/p>\n\n

Not everyone was there to take pictures. This next shot is the same scene as\nthis one<\/a> from my previous post about this shrine, a week<\/span> ago...<\/p>\n\n

I was using my weather-sealed Nikkor 70<\/span>-200\/2.8 most of the time due to the spritzy rain...<\/p>\n\n\n

... but I longed to use the Voigtl\u00e4nder 125mm<\/a> for\nits macro capabilities. The rain finally<\/span> seemed to stop completely, so I\ngot<\/span> what turned out to be a short<\/span> chance...<\/p>\n\n

It looks like the same bird I saw<\/span> last time<\/a>, but this time he was hopping all over, seemingly drinking nectar from the blossoms.\nHe didn't seem to mind all the paparazzi surrounding the tree, but it was quite the challenge to get him exactly in focus as he jumped around, especially\nwith the manual-focus thin-depth-of-field Voigtl\u00e4nder. The best I<\/span> could do before I switched<\/span> back to the Nikkor 70<\/span>-200 and its autofocus was this one, where his eye is indeed\nin focus, but he's bashfully hiding behind a branch.<\/span>..<\/p>\n\n\n
