Since my main computer (a laptop holding my photos for the last two\nyears) is still in the shop, I'm taking<\/span> random walks through the 90,000\nphotos in my desktop-computer's Lightroom catalog, dating through the end\nof 2010. I'm taking<\/span> the opportunity to delete a lot<\/span> of cruft, but\noccasionally run across shots I want<\/span> to share because they're pretty or\ninteresting or respond well to “weird” processing...<\/p>\n\n

Photos on this post date from 2007 (with a Nikon<\/span> D200) to 2010 (with a\nNikon<\/span> D700). But, at least, they benefit from 2013-level processing in the\nname of Lightroom 4<\/span> and, I suppose,<\/span> an older and more-mature(?) me.<\/p>\n\n

The photo above dates to the end of 2010, and is almost identical to “Reflections of a\nPicturesque<\/span> Bridge<\/a>”, except for modern processing to my current taste.<\/p>\n\n

This next photo, from spring 2007, shows some late-blossoming cherry overlooking the canal near my place...<\/p>\n\n

This photo came from an outing already represented by “Perfect Weather for a Snooze<\/span> on a Park<\/span> Bench<\/a>”,\n“Cherry-Blossom Snow<\/a>”, and “Just Like That, Kyoto\u2019s Cherry-Blossom Season Ends<\/a>”.<\/p>\n\n

This next shot shows an ornamental lantern at Kyoto's Yoshida Shrine (\u5409\u7530\u795e\u793e),<\/span> with what looks to be a Photoshop<\/span> mistake at the base...<\/p>\n\n

A close inspection shows a stone base with a complex<\/span> shape designed to\nhold a wooden<\/span> post with an equally complex shape. It all fits<\/span> together and\nlocks with a single<\/span> square peg, and allows the wood to remain off the\nground, away from moisture\/bugs.<\/p>\n\n

It's the same stone basin seen in “Paul Barr +\nStonecarver\u2019s Garden + Lightroom<\/a>”, but from a different<\/span> angle. That\npost started a run<\/span> of about a dozen<\/span> that featured photos from that\nmost-amazing outing.
