This is the third (and final) post about the annual lightup event in the bamboo forest of the Aarashiyama\narea of Kyoto, which I went<\/span> to on a windy,<\/span> sleety night a couple<\/span> of weeks ago. (See earlier\npart 1<\/a> and\npart 2<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n

I tried a quick shot directly of one of the lanterns, which ended up as one might expect,\ndetail in the bright light completely blown out. Still, somehow the result appeals to me...<\/p>\n\n

It's the same kind of high-contrast lantern scene that I used<\/span> as an\nexample of HDR (“High Dynamic Range”, a misnomer<\/span>) four and a half<\/span> years ago\nin “HDR and Why\nI Don't<\/span> Do It<\/a>”.<\/p>\n\n
