I'm finally getting around to posting some more shots of the Arashiyama\n(area of Kyoto) evening bamboo lightup (\u4eac\u90fd\u5d50\u5c71\u7af9<\/span>\u3084\u3076\u306e\u82b1\u706f\u8def)<\/span> from a week<\/span> or two ago. (I'd posted one shot<\/a> that\nevening.)<\/p>\n\n

It was just above freezing, with blustery wind and occasional\nrain\/sleet. Not really<\/span> a pleasant<\/span> environment, but it kept the crowds down\nduring the main event to simply “very crowded”.<\/p>\n\n

This lady stood there for the longest time, staring at me with a blank<\/span>\n“what is that thing?” look on her face. On the outside<\/span> I just<\/span> stood there\nnext to my camera on a tripod.<\/span>.. looking like a photographer<\/span> taking\nphotographs... with a congenial<\/span> but passive smile on my face, but inside I\nwas<\/span> screaming “Uh, hello, can't you see what I'm doing? Are you dense<\/span>!?<\/i>”. It was as<\/span> if she had never seen a foreigner<\/span> before, or\nperhaps she had never seen a camera<\/span> and wondered what the strange device\nwas.<\/p>\n\n

The path was almost completely empty, an improbable event that would not\nrepeat itself for the rest of the night, and she was completely ruining my\nshot, but it's not my<\/i> path, so she has every right to be there as\nmuch as I do,<\/span> so outwardly I just<\/span> smiled.<\/p>\n\n

There was still another 35 minutes to go before the lightup started, so\nI decided<\/span> to walk along the path back toward town...<\/p>\n\n
