Wanting to\nkeep my baggage to <span class='nobr'>a minimum,<\/span> <span class='nobr'>I chose<\/span> the <a\nhref='\/blog\/2010-04-14\/1492'>Sigma &#8220;Bigma&#8221; 50-500mm\nZoom<\/a> for the day. <span class='nobr'>I loved<\/span> this lens when <span class='nobr'>I first<\/span> got it two and <span class='nobr'>a half<\/span>\nyears ago, but it quickly developed <a\nhref='\/blog\/2010-05-07\/1517'>CPU problems<\/a> that caused\nit to &#8220;freak out&#8221;. <span class='nobr'>I ended<\/span> up having it replaced twice, and while the third\ncopy's CPU seemed okay, its image quality didn't really seem up to snuff, so <span class='nobr'>I lost<\/span> interest.<\/p>\n\n<p>But, <span class='nobr'>I picked<\/span> it today for its versatility, and paid the price. Halfway\nthrough the 1,102 photos <span class='nobr'>I shot<\/span> at the sports festival, it started to fritz\nout again. I've owned only two Sigma lenses in my life, this 50-500mm\nand many years ago the <a href='\/blog\/2006-10-31\/274'>30mm\nf\/1.4<\/a>, which also went through three copies before <span class='nobr'>I got<\/span> one that\nseemed reasonable. (That <a\nhref='\/blog\/2006-10-31\/274'>link<\/a>, to <span class='nobr'>a post<\/span> about the\nlens six years ago, is quite the blast from the past for me, to back before\nLightroom when <span class='nobr'>I painstakingly<\/span> processed each photo in Photoshop, without\nthe burden of skill.)<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(If you can't see the photos above, try viewing your screen from an extreme angle, perhaps from way above, and the image should somewhat appear.
