Dooh! <i><span class='nobr'>I can't<\/span> type them<\/i>, silly! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n<p>One of the regrettable side effects of Apple's exceedingly-compact, dense\ndesigns is that repair\/replacement of parts can be\n&#8220;challenging&#8221;, to phrase it kindly, and the keyboard is <span class='nobr'>a good<\/span>\nexample: <span class='nobr'>a key<\/span> is &#8220;repaired&#8221; by disassembling almost the entire\nmain body and replacing the whole keyboard assembly.<\/p>\n\n<p>I've got the &#8220;AppleCare&#8221; extended warranty so <span class='nobr'>I can<\/span> get it fixed plenty\neasily, nevertheless still <span class='nobr'>a hassle,<\/span> especially since the problem appeared at\nthe start of <span class='nobr'>a three<\/span>-day weekend. (Monday is the &#8220;Respect for the Aged&#8221;\nholiday in Japan.) The day after that, I'll take the laptop to the repair place and\nhope it's something they can do on site, knowing I'll probably lose the laptop for\n<span class='nobr'>a week<\/span> <span class='nobr'>or more. \ud83d\ude41<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>So, we'll probably see zero posts on my blog for <span class='nobr'>a while,<\/span> except that\nperhaps this will be motivation for me to finally clean my office desk to\nthe point that <span class='nobr'>I can<\/span> access my MacPro (my desktop Mac). These days, <span class='nobr'>I normally<\/span> do all my work with my laptop while reclining in <span class='nobr'>a big<\/span> soft\nLa-Z-Boy, so my desk has grown to be <span class='nobr'>a vast<\/span> wasteland of random debris\npiled in layers over time. <span class='nobr'>If I clean<\/span>, I'll be astonished if <span class='nobr'>I don't<\/span> find <span class='nobr'>a\nfossil<\/span> or two.<\/p>\n\n<p>I will soothe the pain this evening by (yet again) drowning myself in beef\nand beer at <a href='\/blog\/2012-09-02\/2083'>the great BBQ\/Beer garden feast<\/a> at the hotel next to the (oddly-named) Qanat\nMall, as <a href='\/blog\/2012-09-06\/2086'>I've written of<\/a> several times.<\/p>\n\n<p>PS: if my prose on this post seems <span class='nobr'>a bit<\/span> stilted this time, it's owing\nto the fact that <span class='nobr'>I can't<\/span> type the letter &#8220;&#8221; (again, <span class='nobr'>I can't<\/span>\ntype it!), so I've had to find alternative ways to phrase things. Which\nletter?
